Today was one of those wonderful fall days–just a little cool, just a little rainy. But not enough of either coolness or rain to spoil being outside in the garden or on a walk or bike ride, if one did not mind getting just a bit damp. Leaves are starting to fall, reminding me of days past when I would find time to go to a park or over to the university campus to walk under the trees and through the leaves. You could feel them give under your step and hear the crackle and crunch as you moved through them.
Fall days are the kinds of days that remind me of why cities need parks with trees and grass. How many new parks are being built in cities now? Will future generations know the joy of fall leaves in cities?
